”The trust and responsibility that employees get from Bendex is worth its weight in gold. They trust that the job we do is for the benefit of the customer, and that is something we always bear in mind,” says Ibrahim Doumani, a worker at the Bendex warehouse in Hyltebruk.
He believes that this trust also forms the basis for a working environment in which everyone can grow and develop. “It goes without saying that having an employer that trusts us so implicitly motivates us to deliver a service of the highest possible quality,” he says.
Ibrahim came to Sweden from Syria in late 2013 and quickly realised the importance of learning Swedish. He began taking Swedish classes on the SFI (Swedish for Immigrants) course, whilst also working at a local restaurant. One year later, he had finished his course and started working at Bendex. “It was the first time I’d worked in an industrial setting, but I soon managed to get a handle on the job. The fact that everything went so smoothly, apart from my mechanics classes, is all down to the efforts of my employer and the people I work with. They gave me support when I needed it most,” he says.
From start to finish
By 6.30 am, Ibrahim is at work and, together with planners, the production manager, and the logistics manager, he prepares his work for the day. “It’s important to keep a track on what needs to be done in respect of deliveries leaving the warehouse, what transports need to be booked, parts that need to be sent to painting, customs documentation that needs to be printed, or anything else that requires addressing in order for everything to flow exactly how it should,” he says.
But what Ibrahim appreciates most about his job is that he gets to be involved from start to finish. “Being able to see the entire process, the bigger picture if you will, makes the job really enjoyable.”
