Edge pressing

Edge pressing is a method that is used to shape sheet metal, e.g. after it has been processed by laser cutting. The process involves a tool, usually shaped like a wedge, being pressed against an underlying tool under high pressure. This underlying tool is typically V-shaped, causing the sheet metal on which it is working to bend or change shape according to the position of the metal between the upper and lower tool.

When the upper tool is pressed under significant force against the metal, the metal bends according to the form of the tool. By adjusting the position and angle of the upper tool in relation to the lower tool, it is possible to create different angles and shapes on the metal that is being worked on.

At Bendex, we use edge presses that can deliver forces of up to 150 tonnes, enabling us shape even the thickest and hardest sheet metals with an astounding degree of precision. This means that we can offer our customers a wide variety of shaping possibilities.
