Welding is skill that requires precision

“When I was at school, I worked a few summers at Bendex and really enjoyed it. When I was later asked if I’d like to take on a few more hours during a two-week period, I naturally said yes. That was in 2011 and I’m still here. It just proves how much I love working at Bendex,” says Roger Danerbrant, a smile crossing his face.

Roger now works as a manual welder, but when he started at Bendex, robotic welding was the order of the day. He quickly got to grips with what he was asked to do, but after a few years found himself wanting to develop and learn something new.

The opportunity came when Bendex advertised for a manual welder and he decided to apply for the position. He got the job and has been working in the manual welding department, where he has thrived, ever since.

Precision craftsmanship
I weld everything from the bottom up, using either MIG/MAG, which is the most commonly used welding method, or TIG welding, which requires a high degree of precision as the additive has to be added manually. You need to have a steady hand to get an even, attractive weld. For me, TIG welding is a true art, and every day I compete with myself to make the next weld even more perfect than the last,” he says and laughs.

New customer products
Prototype welding is one of Roger's passions. “It's something I really enjoy working on,” he says.

Prototype welding comes into play when a customer starts working on the development of a new product and Bendex is brought in during the initial stages. Doing this ensures that the manufacturing process is as seamless and cost-effective as possible when the part is actually put into production. “When we fabricate a prototype, we get design drawings from the customer that enable us to produce all the necessary parts such as plates and tubes. I then weld all the parts to form one complete component,” says Roger.

Once the prototype is finished, it is tested and sent to the customer for approval prior to manufacturing.

Loves his job
Roger has recently become a father for the second time and is enjoying family life with his partner and children. On the rare occasions he does get some free time, he likes being out on the handball court with his club HK Hök in Laholm, or on the open road on the back of his motorbike.

Since moving from Hyltebruk to Halmstad, his commute to work has become a lot longer, but it's nothing that worries Roger.

“At Bendex, I have the opportunity to develop and do a job that is both interesting and fun. That, combined with the people I work with, is why I love being here so much. It makes the 100 km daily commute all the sweeter.”
